How Sick Was That! | Day 4
Well all my hopes of not getting sick were quickly dashed. Last nights concert was one for the ages and wouldn’t change that for world! I woke up with what a sore throat and a small fever. I felt it coming on last night when I got back to the room and took a shower. I rallied and headed down to the lobby for breakfast. They had a really nice spread that was similar to the previous Marriott I was in. I killed some eggs over easy, bacon, juice, and croissants with jelly. I decided to head back to the room and rest and hopefully rally for the afternoon to go out and explore. I took some advil and closed my eyes. When they opened it was 6pm and certainly wasn’t feeling any better. Food had crossed my mind and even though wasn’t feeling all that hungry I knew it would be good for me.
I ventured downstairs heading for the same restaurant as I had eaten in this morning. Just before I got there I heard a bunch of cheering coming from another room. I had forgotten that this hotel had a “Champions” sports bar. I couldn’t not look inside haha. It was filled. Every seat was taken and everyone was shouting and cheering at a giant projector screen showing a local football match. Clearly one of the teams was from around here as that is who they were all cheering for. The hostess saw me and said she had one seat available but it was all the way in the front. Not a problem for me, and I sat down front and center for the match. European football makes American football look foolish. Stadiums are sold out and everyone is chanting. Some even brought in bottle rockets and flares smoking out the entire stadium. Their fandom is next level and you can’t help but to watch and become a participant yourself. I ordered a beer and a spicy chicken sandwich for dinner. I figure that alcohol kills germs so why not have a pint.
I left just before the football match was over and retreated back to my room. I popped some advil and took a melatonin gummy in hopes of knocking this bug by the morning. Certainly not the second day in Munich I had hoped for nor as lengthy of a journal entry. I suppose its better to get sick on the early side of a long trip vs the middle or end but either way it isn’t ideal. Likewise, i’m glad I went and did some sightseeing yesterday. Hopefully when I wake up tomorrow I will be feeling more up and at em.
